H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, said, “in the darkest times as polarization increases around the world when communication amongst us is a need … we meet today with great sadness as the world suffers continuous crisis the Gaza Strip is witnessing an unprecedented humanitarian disasters which makes the free people of the world to ask some legitimate questions about the nature of the international systems.” He went on to talk at a follow up panel on the dangers of the war for the next generations in the Middle East.

H.E. António Guterres: Secretary General, United Nations, said, “The horrific attacks by Hamas on 7 October, followed by the relentless Israeli bombardment of Gaza, were met by a resounding silence from the (Security) Council. After more than one month, the Council finally passed a resolution … And the resolution is not being implemented. Last week, I delivered a letter to the President of the Security Council, invoking Article 99 of the Charter of the United Nations for the first time since I became Secretary-General in 2017. I wrote that there is no effective protection of civilians in Gaza.”

Luigi Di Maio, EU Special Representative for the Gulf Region spoke about the importance of green and blue hydrogen as an energy source linking the Gulf to India and beyond as part of the India-Middle East-Europe economic corridor.
